German auto giant Mercedes Benz has pulled the plug on its top end luxury brand Maybach after 10 years. No statement has been issued from the company in this regard, but the 2013 official Mercedes catalogue simply says ‘discontinued’ under the Maybach name.
Touted as Mercedes’ answer to Bentley and Rolls Royce, the Maybach certainly did live upto its size but did no more than that. The German auto giant tried its best to push the car’s sales by introducing it in various guises including a sports model but to no avail.
With the resources freeing up from the discontinuation of the Maybach, Mercedes is now likely to focus its attention on the S-class and revive the Pullman moniker for its customers who want the last word in luxury but still want a three-pointed star on the bonnet.
