Mercedes-Benz took everyone by surprise at last year’s 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance when the German carmaker took the wraps off the Mercedes-Benz Vision Maybach 6 Concept. The three-pointed star is coming back again to this year’s Concours with a new Vision Concept and the carmaker has teased the same in a short video.
The ‘upcoming big surprise’ announced by the company’s chief design officer is speculated to be a convertible version of the Vision Maybach 6 Concept. The ‘next vision’ design study will be in a concept guise only, although its design elements can make it to production in Mercedes-Benz’s convertibles in the years to come.
The short teaser video hints at a futuristic concept both inside and out. Unlike the red paintwork of the Vision 6, the teaser features a metallic blue hue vehicle. The long flowing bonnet is visible with a logo adorned up front. The rear deck has a red coloured pinstripe running down the centre. The seats look opulent and lavish and so does the steering wheel. The minimalistic cabin in a typical concept car fashion sports three air vents in the centre console. The video ends with a glimpse of multi-spoke wheels with golden brake callipers behind it.
The Maybach vehicle based on the Vision 6 will be assembled by a bespoke coachbuilder just like the Phantom Sweptail, a few months ago. This will provide the buyers of the Maybach badge with the freedom to personalise their expensive vehicles.
Whatever the new Vision might be, it looks futuristic and prominent. It will grace its presence at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance which opens its gates next week. Stay tuned.
