The newly introduced Mercedes-Maybach S600 made its Asian debut at the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show. First shown in Los Angeles last week, this new model marks the resurrection of the Maybach after the brand was discontinued in 2012.
Design-wise, the Maybach S600 features similar styling as the standard Mercedes S-Class, however, at 5,453mm it is longer by 207mm over the latter. Thanks to the additional length, the Maybach benefits from more legroom for rear seat passengers.
Being a Maybach, this particular S600 gets supremely luxurious executive rear seats featuring backrests which are adjusted separately with the seat reference point. According to Mercedes, the Maybach S600 is the quietest car in the world – hardly surprising when you consider the sheer amount of sound insulation went into making the car.
Powering the Maybach 600 is a twin-turbo, 6-litre V12 engine developing 522bhp of power and 830Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed AMG automatic gearbox. Although Mercedes hasn’t announced the prices for this model yet, it is believed to cost in excess of Rs 1.23 crore for the range starting model.
For now, Mercedes has introduced the Maybach S600 in top-spec trim only. The brand has revealed that the car will be available for sale starting February next year.
