Mercedes-Benz India will launch the armoured edition of their flagship sedan, the Maybach, in India on March 8. The Maybach S 600 Guard is expected to be the most expensive armoured passenger vehicle available in India, with the price tag of close to Rs 10 crore.
The Maybach S 600 Guard uses a reinforced passenger cell and host of other features to safe guard its occupants from firearms and explosives. The car comes with the VR9 level rating, the highest that is awarded to the passenger vehicles.
Based on the standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the Maybach S 600 has much longer wheelbase of 3,365mm offering additional space for the rear passengers. In terms of other safety features the car gets blast-proof fuel tank, PAX runflat tyres, emergency door opening and its own firefighting system.
The Maybach Guard uses the 6.0-litre V12 engine delivering 530bhp and 830Nm of torque to the rear wheels via the 7G-Tronic gearbox. It is a heavy car, weighing close to 4.7 tonnes and yet has an electronically restricted top-speed of 210kmph.
