The GLE 450 AMG coupe that was launched earlier this year might soon have a new name. The car that is sold as the 450 AMG, will get a two-digit nomenclature in line with the traditional AMG performance cars.
We noticed something interesting with one of the units imported recently – while the displacement was the same, this car carries the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 Coupe badge. Further investigation revealed that the official Mercedes AMG global website now only shows the 43 AMG and which should then ideally be used in India as well.0
Apart from the name, there isn’t any difference between this and the 450 AMG that is already on sale in India. The car uses the same 3.0-litre petrol V6 engine producing 367bhp and 520Nm of torque, with ability to reach the 100kmph mark from standstill in 5.7 seconds. We should officially hear about the name change soon, but irrespective, the car will continue to compete with the BMW X6 as an SUV coupe.
As for the design aspect, the car features multibeam LED headlamps, diamond pattern grille with single slat, large air intakes, 21-inch forged rims and LED taillamps. For safety, it comes with Adaptive Airbags, Active Parking Assist, Adaptive High Beam and Attention Assist. Inside, it sports an eight-inch Comand freestanding display and dual toned premium leather upholstery.
