Mercedes-Benz India had introduced the uber-luxury Maybach brand to India last year with the launch of the Mercedes-Maybach S500 and the S600. Mercedes has now launched the armoured version of the S600, the Maybach S600 Guard at Rs 10.5 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Mercedes has planned to launch 12 cars in 2016 and this is the third Mercedes to be launched after the GLE 450 AMG Coupe in January and the recent Edition E. The Maybach S600 is a luxury saloon and is over 200mm longer than the Mercedes S-Class. The interiors are bespoke in the highest quality of leather and equipment and has features surpassing most cars.
The armoured Maybach Guard is the first civilian car to be VR10 certified, the highest safety rating available against ballistics. The Maybach Guard cabin, including the windows, can take hardened steel core bullets and stand a blast of 15kg of TNT from as close as four metres away. The fuel tank can heal itself if it takes a hit and is fireproof. The Maybach gets special PAX run-flat tyres to allow the car to be taken away from the ambush as soon as possible.
All of this strengthening and reinforcements have made the Maybach Guard weigh a generous 4.7 tonnes. It is powered by the Mercedes 6.0-litre V12 petrol engine that develops 523bhp of power and 830Nm of torque to haul the car to a top whack limited at 190kmph. The Maybach guard also manages to hit the 100kmph mark from standstill in an impressive 7.9 seconds considering its weight.
They will be made to order and will be brought in as a CBU and can be serviced at any Mercedes dealership. The Maybach Guard competes with the Audi A8L Security and the BMW 760Li High Security along with its sibling, the Mercedes S500 Guard.
