Everything from the Mercedes stable that carries the Affalterbach stamp on it is ridiculously fast and very expensive but still extremely desirable. So, Mercedes has made the AMG badge a little bit more accessible for the aspirants with the new Mercedes E43 4Matic sedan and estate, in the global markets. While it is difficult to say if it will come to India, here are a few details on the new three-pointed stars.
AMG means performance and Mercedes-AMG has ensured you get a good deal of it. The 3.0-litre six cylinder mill gets two bigger turbochargers that help to bump the power output to 401bhp at full whack and 520Nm of torque from 2500rpm. The 4Matic all-wheel-drive system is rear-biased with 69 per cent of the power going to the rear wheels through the nine-speed torque converter automatic gearbox that gets paddle shifts. While the sedan takes 4.6 seconds to hit 100kmph from zero, the estate takes 0.1 seconds more on their way to a top speed of 250kmph.
In terms of cosmetics, the E43s gets AMG-style aggressive bumpers with sporty air dams, splitters and alloy wheels. On the inside, exquisite leather is guaranteed along with sporty bucket seats in the front with electric adjust for the headrest as well. In terms of space, the E-Class has been a segment leader and the Estate will offer more room for luggage.
