A heavily camouflaged prototype of the Mercedes GLC Coupe has been caught on camera, ahead of its official debut later next year. Based on the standard GLC, this coupe model is Mercedes’ answer to the equally sporty-looking BMW X4.
The GLC Coupe follows the concept shown at the 2015 Shanghai motor show. It's being aimed at those looking for a vehicle with the looks of a coupe but with the raised ride height, large boot and all-wheel drive tech of an SUV.
Although the GLC Coupe range will feature all-wheel drive, Mercedes could offer a rear-wheel-drive only version for select markets. And as for the drive-train, we expect the GLC to be powered by a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with the least powerful engine putting out 170bhp.
When launched sometime next year, the GLC Coupe will represent the sportier side of the standard GLC. However, the former will lose out on quite a bit of legroom and overall interior space compared to the GLC.
