Based on the upcoming generation of the A-Class, Mercedes is planning a compact SUV called the GLB. The car will come to the market in 2018.
For a long time Mercedes had a plan to launch a long wheelbase seven-seat B-Class to meet the demands of families but then a family SUV was favoured. One of the early prototypes of the car was caught testing in northern Scandinavia.
With a length of 4.60 meters, the Mercedes GLB should not only offer a lot of space, but also a boot volume of around 500 litres. Visually, the GLB is quite angular and closely resembles the legendary G model, albeit in a modern look.
Known under the X 247 internal code, the new SUV uses the same MFA2 platform which underpins the A-Class and B-Class model families, inheriting their engine line-up and amenities.
