Mercedes-Benz India will launch its fourth AMG vehicle – the GLA 45 AMG, this month, on October 27. The GLA 45 AMG is based on the GLA-Class that made its official debut last month and is apparently sold out for the year. This is the second four-cylinder AMG vehicle to go on sale in India after the CLA45 AMG.
The GLA 45 AMG is powered by a twin turbo 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine belting out 355bhp and 450Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a DCT 7-speed dual clutch transmission that sends out power to all four wheels.
The GLA 45 AMG gets an AMG body kit that includes a sporty front bumper, side skirts and a rear bumper integrated with a diffuser with quad chrome-tipped exhausts. The vehicle is based on the same Modular Front Architecture (MFA) platform which underpins the A- and B-Class hatchbacks. Inside the cabin, the car gets all the standard equipment from the GLA but the AMG badging with AMG specific seats and red seat belts differentiates it from the standard GLA.
The details on the pricing is scarce, but we expect it to be launched somewhat close to the CLA 45 AMG. It might put it in the range of Rs 68 - 70 lakh, at that price we don’t expect the sales to be high. However, it will definitely be an option to someone wanting an entry-level SUV with performance to match the big ones.
