Hot on the heels of the EQS Maybach SUV, Mercedes-Benz India will also launch the EQS SUV. This is the German automaker’s fifth electric vehicle in 2024 and ties into their top-end model launch strategy for this calendar year.
The EQS SUV picks up the same design cues as the EQS Maybach with a crossover design and large wheels sitting at the edges of the body. Some major design highlights include the massive grille(less) face, big 21-inch wheels and connected tail lamps that have become all the rage nowadays. Inside, you get an MBUX hyperscreen, electrically controllable rear seats and three rows of seats like its ICE counterpart the GLS SUV. The feature list will be on par with what’s offered with the EQS sedan, including rear screens, ADAS, seat massagers and mood relaxation programmes.
We expect the EQS SUV to be offered in the top-spec EQS 580 trim, which means a 118kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 546 km. You get dual motors with AWD producing 355bhp/568Nm. It is expected to arrive on the CBU route and will be priced around Rs. 1.75 crore. In terms of rivals we can look at cars like the BMW i7, Audi Q8 e-tron and of course the Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan itself.
