Shortly after making its online debut, the Mercedes-Benz Concept GLC Coupe has arrived in China for its public debut. The BMW X4 rivalling model has been showcased at the ongoing Auto Shanghai. Although still in concept form, the GLC Coupe is a near-production standard study that carries the GLE Coupe formula over into a more compact segment.
The Concept GLC Coupe is based on the second generation GLK. Measuring 4.73m in length and with a 2.83m wheelbase, it looks a lot like its bigger sibling, the GLE Coupe. The former features an extended greenhouse and large 21-inch wheels, for that typical, high-riding crossover appearance.
Under the hood sits a V6 power plant that delivers 367bhp of power and 520Nm of torque. Familiar with AMG sports models, the direct-injection bi-turbo engine is paired with a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system.
Although Mercedes calls it a concept, the GLC Coupe is very much near production spec. When launched, it will be positioned in the small premium crossover segment to rival the new BMW X4.
