Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the CLA 45 AMG, in India, at a starting price of RM 3,92,888 (Rs 72 lakh). In Malaysia, the car has been introduced as a limited edition within two months of the launch of the CLA 200.
The CLA 45 AMG is available in Night Package, with 19-inch matte black multi-spoke alloys, special red accents on the grille, wheels and door mirrors. Additionally, it gets matte grey striping along the sides of the car and an “Edition 1″ plaque below the gearlever. But, the growling AMG performance exhaust that comes in the Malaysian-spec A 45 AMG is not available in this car.
There are a few optional extras available for a premium like the carbon fibre trim which will cost you an extra RM3,000 (Rs 55,000).
The vehicle is powered by the hand-built turbocharged, 2.0-litre engine producing 355bhp and 450Nm of torque. A seven-speed AMG speedshift dual-clutch gearbox transmits power to all four wheels (AMG 4MATIC). It gets a limited top speed of 250 kmph and hits the 100kmph sprint from standstill in a sports car rivaling 4.6 seconds.
Mercedes having launched the S-Class and GL63 AMG will launch the ML63 AMG to be followed by the CLA 45 AMG in 2014, or as Mercedes says, its ‘year of excellence’. However, in India, we will only get the CLA 45 AMG to start with and the saner versions won’t be coming this year. We can expect it to go for less than Rs 72 lakh and it is expected to hit our markets in the next quarter.
