Mercedes-Benz has introduced the C250 d variant of the C-Class sedan with a price tag of Rs 44.36 (ex-showroom Pune). The more powerful diesel version of the sedan gets additional features and the new nine-speed transmission.
The C250 d variant gets the same 2.1-litre diesel engine, but the power out has been increased to 201bhp and 500Nm of torque – similar to the output of the E-Class. With the additional power and the new 9G-Tronic transmission, the car has a claimed 0 to 100kmph time of 6.6 seconds. The ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of the new variant is 19.71kmpl.
The features like Garmin navigation, ambient lighting and the active parking assist with Parktronic are standard with this version. The Mercedes-Benz C250 d is assembled in India and sits above the current C220 variant. The direct rivals of the sedan, the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4, currently don’t offer a diesel variant with over 200bhp power in India.
