Mercedes-Benz will recall more than 1,47,000 vehicles sold in the USA between 2013-2015. This recall has been issued to check for a potential engine fire risk.
The cars, mid-size sedans and station wagons have a rubber seal in the engine compartment that can cause a fire if it falls on the exhaust system. This could cause an under-hood fire according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The vehicles recalled include – CLS-Class and the E-Class sedan and station wagon. The company has clarified that dealerships will start notifying owners and repairing the cars starting mid-March. Mercedes had also recalled 1,49,000 CLS-Class and E-Class in Europe and China for similar problem.
Mercedes India hasn’t issued any recall notice in India. While we aren’t sure if they will, but the issue seems to be common or else the cars won’t be recalled in Europe and China too.
