Sources have revealed that Mercedes-Benz is working towards bringing up another distinct series of branding terminology for its electric vehicles (EVs) called EQ.
The latest reports quote that the car maker has trademarked a few names ranging from EQA to EQX, in the United Kingdom. This proves that the naming strategy could be similar to how Merc currently brands its SUVs (GLA, GLC etc). While the first two letters stand for electric thrust, the third indicates the model it relates to (A-Class, C-Class etc), depending on the size of the car.
Earlier, Daimler CEO, Dieter Zetsche said the company will debut their first vehicle in its electric sub-brand (EQ) at the Paris auto show, later this year. This vehicle is rumoured to be a crossover as of now. As BMW has the ‘i’ models, just like Audi has its ‘e-trons’ versions, Mercedes-Benz will finally have its own set of EVs to ward off the competition. It sure looks like Mercedes-Benz is all set to electrify its presence in the electric vehicle segment.
