Mercedes-Benz will now run three shifts at its Rastatt plant in Germany to meet the growing demand for its latest generation A-Class. Since its launch in June, the third generation A-Class has already got over 70,000 bookings and this number is expected to increase in the coming months.
Commenting on the development, Rastatt plant director Peter West said “we have expanded our full-time work force by 500 permanent staff and now well positioned to deliver the cars to our customers as soon as possible.”
The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class will soon be launched in India and is expected to be their first vehicles in Rs sub-20 lakh segment. The hatchback will join the B-Class as the second car in a five vehicle range to arrive in India, based on the economical and versatile MFA platform that will also underpin CLA sedan and GLA compact SUV.
