A few days ago Mercedes-Benz previewed the interior Maybach S600 and announced that it would launch the car at the 2014 LA Auto Show and Guangzhou Auto Show. Now it has revealed there will be three sedans but no SUV donning the uber-luxury Maybach badge.
We already know that the first vehicle will be the Mercedes-Maybach S600 and is the most expensive vehicle in the range. The second car in the range is the Mercedes-Maybach S500 and then finally a Mercedes-Maybach S400 4MATIC model.
The S600 as revealed in the previous story will get its power from a 6.0-litre Twin-turbo V12 that produces 530bhp and 830Nm of torque while the S500 will get its power from a 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 455bhp and 700Nm of torque, this is the same engine used in the S-Class S500 model. Lastly, the Maybach S400 4MATIC will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 engine that produces 333bhp and 400Nm of torque with this car being made especially for the Chinese market. All three engines are expected to be offered with the 7G-Tronic gearbox.
While it has not said anything till date, we believe that MB will also revive the Pullman moniker and have a six-metre or 6.5-metre long car with six doors. The car has been spotted testing on multiple occasions and is likely to get the same 6.0-litre V12 under the hood.
Taking into consideration, the German automaker’s strategy for the Indian market, we believe that the Maybach S500 will be brought to the Indian market via the CBU route.
