Mercedes-Benz will launch the G63 AMG for the Indian market at a function in Mumbai tomorrow. The G63 will replace the current G55 AMG, which was introduced in the Indian market more than a year ago, as the German automakers flagship SUV. The G-Class vehicles have always been potent off-roaders and have been on sale in almost the same design for the last 30 years.
The G63 will be powered by a 5.5litre AMG bi-turbo V-8 engine which develops a peak power of 536bhp and 530Nm of torque. The engine is mated to 7-speed automatic gearbox that has been re-engineered for better and smooth shifts. In terms of design, there hasn’t been much change compared to its predecessor. However, the company has re-designed the front bumper to make space for large air-intakes.
Inside, we can expect the usual Mercedes-Benz luxury kit as well as some AMG specific touches like badges spread out across the vehicle, dashes of carbon fibre over the dashboard as well as an AMG specific steering wheel and gauges.
The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG will also be playing a major role in the upcoming action movie ‘A good Day To Die Hard’ starring Bruce Willis as the legendary NYPD detective John McClane and Jai Courtney as his son John Mcclane Junior. The movie is slated to release in India next week.
Mercedes-Benz is likely to price the G63 AMG somewhere near Rs 1.55 Crore. Stay tuned to CarWale for all the details from the launch.
