Mercedes-Benz will launch a facelifted version of its GL SUV at a function in Delhi tomorrow. The second generation SUV was introduced in 2012 and features mainly cosmetic changes as compared to the previous model. The German automaker has invited tennis legend Boris Becker to participate in the launch.
The Indian spec 2013 GL 350 CDI will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 mill producing 224PS and 510Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 7G Tronic gearbox and the German automaker’s very own 4Matic all-wheel drive system.
The 2013 GL350 CDI is 90kg lighter than the current model, and is also 20 per cent more fuel efficient in the European driving cycle, despite higher power and torque figures. This should no doubt make customers happy.
It also has on the options list surround view, which utilises four cameras mounted around the car to give a 360 degree view to the driver via the screen in the dashboard. The third row of seats is folded or brought up electrically as standard, which is a good addition.
There are also other changes like the electrically-assisted steering, electric parking brake and our favourite - an optional audio system from Bang & Olufsen with a total output of 1200W from 14 speakers.
We will bring you all the details from the launch as they happened, so stay tuned to CarWale.
