Mercedes-Benz will launch the special edition of its C-Class sedan to celebrate the sales of 10 million C-Class models globally. Launched in 1993, the C-Class for many years was the base model for the German automaker and has been a strong player for Mercedes-Benz in terms of volumes. Reports suggest that the Celebration Edition is based on the C220 CDI variant and gets a significant amount of cosmetic upgrades.
Externally, the C-Class Celebration Edition gets an AMG body kit, AMG alloy wheels and most probably badges signifying that the car is a special edition. The interiors are likely to get all the AMG spec options and celebration edition badge but will retain the same overall design.
The engine is expected to remain the same as the C220CDI which means a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel mill that produces 170bhp and 400Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
We are not sure about the price of this vehicle and moreover it is likely to be a limited edition with a slated production run of about 100-150 units. We will bring you all the details from the launch tomorrow, so stay tuned to CarWale.
