Mercedes-Benz India has dropped an obscure teaser of the G63 AMG. The ambiguous teaser images have a tagline “shake every ground”. Given that the G-Wagon is already on sale in India, we suspect the teasers are for a special edition G63 AMG, and more specifically – the Edition 463.
From the teaser images, we can deduce the car to be the Edition 463, thanks to the five-twin-spoke alloy wheels and the AMG racing stripes decals on the sides. The Edition 463 was released internationally last year. It adds subtle changes to the already exclusive G63 with some exterior and interior elements. The most prominent addition to the Edition 463 would be the drilled stainless-steel under-ride guard on the front bonnet, the stripe decals on the doors, and the high-sheen five-twin-spoke alloy wheels. Expect special body colours as well.
On the inside, we expect Mercedes-Benz to provide a two-tone dashboard with ‘desigo’ upholstery wrapped in carbon and Nappa leather. With the AMG carbon-fibre trim, the interior will get a slew of carbon-fibre inserts all around the cabin. Customers would also have a choice of two-tone seats with side bolsters done in carbon leather, or a choice of black, porcelain/black or light brown/black designo leather upholstery.
There’s not much scope of changes when you are dealing with a car like the iconic Gelandewagen, however, the German carmaker has kept the design and features of its 38-year old car fresh with a plethora of limited editions. The G63 is also available in the Crazy Colour Edition in India.
Powering the special edition G63 would be the same 5.5-litre V8 behemoth, however, there will be a power boost over the standard G63. A total power output of whopping 563bhp and 700Nm is expected. The exhaust system is also speculated to produce more sonorous sound in Edition 463.
Following the teasers, Mercedes-Benz is expected to reveal the car in the coming few weeks.
