Mercedes-Benz has released an official teaser of the upcoming GLC Coupe, ahead of its rumoured unveiling at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The teaser shows the bare body shell of the GLC Coupe being lifted in the air by a robotic arm, outside what seems like a production facility.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is a coupe-crossover based on the GLC-Class SUV. A replacement for the GLK, the GLC Coupe will be underpinned by a revised version of the MRA platform borrowed from the W205 C-Class. When it comes to the powertrain, the GLC Coupe will also inherit the engine options from the current C-Class, which includes four-cylinder and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Mercedes-Benz will also offer a hybrid version of the GLC Coupe powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor.
The sloping roofline, the protruding rear section and the overall profile make it pretty evident that the GLC Coupe will be a rival to the BMW X4. With the unveiling expected to happen during March 2016, we can expect the GLC Coupe to enter production by the second half of the year. Indian customers, though, might have to wait till early 2017.
