German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India, today, announced its strongest sales year in the company’s history in India by posting 10,201 units of sales. The company has recorded a growth of 13 per cent over the corresponding year 2013 and has posted double digit growth figures for a second year in a row.
Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented: “We have recorded the highest ever sales in the history of Mercedes-Benz in India till date. This is a strong reaffirmation of the continued preference of our customers for the Three Pointed Star. With the ‘Year of Excellence’we brought excellence to our customers, who appreciated our efforts and helped us in accomplishing a sustained and profitable growth. We are satisfied that our customer oriented efforts have paid off well. With this second consecutive successful year, we are now more confident and focused on continuing our growth momentum in India, which we achieved amidst increasingly challenging market conditions.”
The year of excellence as the company called 2014, saw them launching 10 new products. Despite the tough market conditions the company saw strong sales. The S-Class paved the way for the other Mercedes cars and was the first launch of this year. This year, the company has more important products lined up for launch - CLA-Class sedan, the new B-Class, AMG GT and others. The CLA will be the first launch of the company this year and is expected to add some volumes. The CLA will compete with the Audi A3 and is expected to be priced around Rs 30 lakh for the base variants like the A3.
