Mercedes-Benz has revealed a final edition of their flagship sportscar -the SLS AMG GT Final Edition. It will be limited to 350 units and as the name suggests it is the final hurrah for the modern gullwing. The car will be built both in coupe and roadster body style.
The SLS AMG GT Final Edition gets a carbon fibre hood, front splitter, new bumpers as well as new AMG spec brakes. Sporty additions include a rear wing, carbon fibre OVRMs, blacked out headlights and AMG spec alloy wheels.
The interiors remain the same as the SLS AMG GT but now with the addition of a head-up display and a new touchpad which has been integrated into the handrest and can be used to access features like the radio and the Sat Nav system. Under the hood is the ‘standard’ 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V8 that produces 591bhp and 673Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox.
The SLS AMG was launched in 2010 and was a direct successor to the 1960’s 300SL gullwing car. It has spawned a variety of models including the quite powerful but very silent SLS AMG Electric drive. Reports suggest that the car will be replaced by a Porsche 911 rivalling two door sports car which is expected to be called the SLC AMG and will be powered by the 5.5-litre biturbo V8.
