The Mercedes-Benz SLC has been photographed undergoing performance testing at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany. The bright red test mule sported mild camouflage at the front and rear, hinting at the sections that are going to be affected by the facelift.
The current R172 Mercedes-Benz SLK was launched in 2012, and hasn’t received any major update since then. However, reports suggest that the next iteration of this hard-top convertible will get a new name, besides a host of cosmetic updates. The overall shape of the front bumper and the headlamps hint at a more rounded design, in line with the current crop of Mercedes-Benz cars. The new SLC-Class will be a mid-cycle update of the current car and hence, will continue to be based upon the same platform.
The powertrain options for the new Mercedes-Benz SLC will include new four-pot engines, besides the V6 and V8 engines. The SLC is expected to be globally unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. It rivals other two-seater sportscars like the BMW Z4 and the Porsche Boxster.
