The upcoming Porsche 911 rivalling Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG (codenamed C190) is likely to be sold alongside the SLS AMG and will not replace the SLS AMG as was believed to be the case previously. The car has already been spotted testing on multiple occasions in Europe and from the spy pictures it is evident that the car is significantly smaller than the SLS.
The SLC is expected to share the aluminium space frame chassis with the bigger SLS and will be the second standalone AMG model in the German automaker’s line up. Such move is expected to help spread the development costs across both models and allow Mercedes-Benz to pit its cars against a larger target group that includes the Nissan GT-R, Audi R8 and the upcoming Lamborghini Carbrera.
Reports suggest that the car will be powered by a twin turbo 4.0-litre V8 mill that will most likely produces 485PS and equal amount of torque. As is the case with the SLS, there is expected to be an electric drive version, Black Series and eventually an incredibly powerful and rather scary Brabus version also.
We expect that Mercedes-Benz will unveil the car sometime next year and will eventually launch it in mid-2015 with a significantly lower price than the full size gull wing SLS.
