Mercedes-Benz India has registered 34 per cent growth in the 2015 calendar year. The company sold 10,079 cars this year against 7,529 units sold in the same period last year.
The German carmaker sold almost the entire volume of 2014, in the first nine months. Mercedes has been on an expansion spree in India this year, adding 12 new models and 13 dealerships in the last nine months. The sales of Mercedes sedans went up by 39 per cent this year while the SUV portfolio registered a growth 70 per cent.
Riding on next-generation models and facelifts for most of the lineup, Mercedes is getting a larger share in the luxury car market. The company will continue to refresh its lineup by introducing the GLE to replace the M-Class on October 14.
Commenting on the results, Roland Folger, the new Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “Mercedes-Benz’s success run in India continues as we sold almost the entire 2014 volumes in first nine months of 2015. This continuous sales success is a clear reflection of our customer centric approach and our relentless drive towards creating customers for life. I am glad to see the India strategy is bearing fruits, and we are well poised for entering the Q4 with a very strong footing.”
