Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG coupe officially revealed

Mercedes-Benz already sells the high-performance S63 AMG coupe for those looking for a comfortable fast two door model with plenty of style. Anticipating that more is always better, the German luxury brand has now introduced the new S65 AMG coupe with revised styling and a massive 6-litre V12 engine.  

While the S63 AMG coupe already is considered mighty powerful with its V8 engine producing 580bhp of power, the new S65 AMG takes the game further with a 6-litre V12 engine putting out 630bhp of power and 1,000Nm of torque. The same V12 engine also powers the S65 AMG four-door sedan.

Thanks to the firepower under the hood, Mercedes claims the S65 AMG coupe can hit 100kmph from standstill in just 4.1 seconds (0.2 faster than the V8 powered model). Top speed, meanwhile, is still electronically limited to 250kmph.

Power is sent to the wheels using AMG’s SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC gearbox that features three individual driving modes. Other standard equipment includes AMG sports suspension with curve tilting function, a lithium-ion battery, 20-inch polished forged wheels and Speed-sensitive steering with variable steering ratio. 

Mercedes has announced that the S65 AMG coupe is now on sale in Germany, ahead of the car’s US launch scheduled late this year. Given how popular the AMG range has become in the Indian market, Mercedes-Benz India might even consider bringing either of these high-performance coupe models based on the regular S-Class.
