The Mercedes-Benz S400 hits the right chord with a fine balance between performance and luxury. Launched at Rs 1.28 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi), the luxury sedan smartly positions itself between the S350 CDI and the S500 models offered by the German automaker.
The Mercedes-Benz S400 is the second one among the 12 expected launches for this year. Under the hood, the S400 gets a 3.0-litre, V6 petrol engine mated to a 7G-Tronic automatic gearbox that generates about 324bhp of power and 480Nm of torque. For those interested in Hybrid may have to wait longer as the company has no plans of introducing it now. The new model continues to be offered with almost all the features present in cars coming from the company’s production line.
As for safety, the new Mercedes-Benz comes with ABS, EBD and eight airbags. On the design aspect, there is hardly any change and it continues to sport its traditional badge. The interiors are rich, comfortable, and premium. For entertainment, the new Mercedes S400 comes with Merc’s COMAND infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster.
The Mercedes S400 competes mainly with the Jaguar XJ L 2.0 which is powered by a 2-litre petrol engine. The latter comes in at Rs 97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
