Patent drawings of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class have been leaked ahead of its debut in 2015. The drawings, which have been registred with the US Patent and Trademarke office, confirm the German automaker’s plans to expand the S-Class range across a large number of vehicles.
We have seen the S-Class Pullman variant in spy shots before but this is the first time there has been any confirmation of its existence. Reports suggest that the S-Class Pullman, in classic design, will be a 2+2+2 variant with two people in front and four seats in the back facing each other with a partion to separate the driver and passenger section. Brabus, the German firm which produces superfast versions of the Three Pointed Star’s superfast cars, has been put in charge of building the car.
Given the pedigree of people who will purchase this car, there is also expected to be a fully aromoured 5.4-tonne variant (likley to be called the Pullman Guard) and this will be priced at USD 1.27 million (Rs 7.7 Crore) making it the most expensive S-Class model.
The 6.4 metre S-Class Pullman is expected to be offered with the 4.7-litre V8 mill from the S500 that produces 453bhp and 700Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed AT box. The aromoured variant on the other hand, thanks to its massive weight is expected to get either the AMG spec 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 or a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12.
The Pullman is likley to have a European unveiling but will be preceeded by a S600 Maybach model which will be unveiled at the 2014 Guangzhou Motor Show.
