Mercedes-Benz is planning to launch new engines for the 2015 C-Class. The first two cars to get the new engines will be the range topping C63 AMG and a new variant called the C300. The C63 AMG is expected to be equipped with a V8 4.0-litre twin-turbo engine while the C300 will be powered by a 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo petrol.
Reports suggest that the new C63 AMG will be powered by an advanced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine churning out power in the range of 454bhp to 493bhp. It will be mated to the carmaker’s 7G-MCT SpeedShift automatic transmission. This new engine is expected to be unveiled in the end of next year and hopefully will be carried over to other AMG models in future.
Another model to be introduced will be the C300 which will be powered by the 2.0-litre turbocharged direct-injection four-cylinder engine producing 249bhp of power. This power output will be further increased by 67bhp with the help of an electric motor paired with the engine. This variant will expand the C-Class range when it will be introduced in and around 2015.
The new C-class which is larger and wider than the previous version will go on sale next year. It is expected compete with the BMW 3-series and Audi A4.
