Mercedes-Benz is reportedly adding more vehicles to its AMG portfolio, according to Autocar UK report. The new range will be positioned below the traditional line-up of AMG vehicles.
This new range will compete with the different performance orientated models from the Audi Sport and BMW M Performance range. The new sport models will receive exclusive exterior and interior styling touches and upgraded engines. AMG will also use uniquely calibrated chassis tuning and electronics.
The current AMG range has only petrol engines and BMW will soon launch an M diesel car so will Audi. As a result the AMG range will also get a choice of petrol and diesel engines, but not for every model.
“We have identified growing demand for our more overtly sporty models, both in petrol and diesel guises. We intend to extend our range with a new line of models developed in partnership with AMG,” said a source.
The new range will include A, C, E and S-Class line-ups together with variants based on GL- and M-, GLK- and GLA-class. Expect the complete range of AMG models to be launched in India after their global unveiling.
