Mercedes-Benz expanded its AMG range of cars to six models in India, on Thursday, with the launch of the ML 63 AMG. The company then also revealed plans of expanding their portfolio in India, soon, by introducing more performance cars.
Mario Spitzner, director for brand and marketing at AMG, was present at the launch event in Delhi. He announced the company's plans of launching new models in our country. Mercedes-AMG is a subsidiary of Daimler AG that manufactures high precision super sports cars. Ever since AMG (Aufrecht Melcher Groaspach) entered India, they have sold over 200 cars. The company plans to double the sales in India as a result of the growing demand of such cars in the country.
In line with its strategic focus on the AMG brand in India, Mercedes-Benz India also inaugurated India's first AMG Performance Centre in Delhi. So apart from the introduction of new models, the automaker aims to offer more personalised services to its customers and further bolster its powerful luxury SUV line- up in India. With this in mind, the manufacturer will inaugurate more dedicated AMG performance centres in India.
Mercedes-Benz sold 32,200 AMG cars all over the world this year. The manufacturer claims that this is the strongest year in the company's history and expects the demand for super sports cars to boost it further. Though US, Germany and the UK have been strong markets for the carmaker, it sees the Indian market as the fastest growing market and considers it very important to continue its productive innings here.
BMW has introduced some M performance cars here, so has Audi with the addition of the RS range. But having had an early start with the introduction of performance cars in our country, Mercedes-Benz is far ahead of competition. With such extensive plans, its lead is only going to get better.
