While we all wait for the new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT to debut and jolt the automotive world, the German carmaker has officially released full details about the engine which powers this upcoming sports coupe.
The upcoming Mercedes AMG GT, in fact, will make use of a twin-turbo 4-litre V8 engine producing 510bhp of power at 6,250rpm and 650Nm of torque between 1,750 rpm and 4,750rpm. Codenamed M178, this Euro 6-compliant engine is the latest member of the BlueDIRECT engine family and claims high levels of performance and efficiency.
A compact design, low power-to-weight ratio and signature, distinctive AMG sound are the winning factors of this new twin turbo V8 unit, says Mercedes. Following the AMG GT, this very motor will also be seen in the upcoming C63 AMG model range which will include the sedan, coupe and the estate.
