Mercedes-Benz intends on strengthening the presence of the AMG series in India. Moving towards this goal, the company will launch the ML63 AMG SUV tomorrow along with the inauguration of their first AMG Performance Centre in India. This SUV is a high performance variant of the Mercedes-Benz ML-Class.
The ML63 AMG, the newest addition to the Mercedes-Benz range, resembles the standard SUV but comes with AMG body kit making it look bigger. The fascia comes with the standard grille, three-pointed star logo, projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lamps. The vehicle stands tall on 20-inch AMG-spec wheels surrounded by flared wheel arches. At the rear of the vehicle, wrap-around LED tail lamps, mesh rear air dam, quad chrome finish exhaust pipes and a rear spoiler are seen. The chrome lip for the loading bay is carried over from the standard SUV.
Inside, the ML63 AMG looks similar to the standard ML-Class but with some AMG modifications. The car comes equipped with premium upgraded leather seats. It features climate control with multi-zone temperature control, infotainment system, leather seats with memory function, anti-lock brakes and ventilated disc brakes. While the DVD player is incorporated in the front row, wireless communication for bluetooth-enabled devices and audio input jack for comprehensive entertainment have also been provided in the car. On the safety front, front and rear side airbags along with knee airbag for the driver have been included. These are with automatic locking retractors. The ML63 AMG comes equipped with a tri- coloured interior lighting scheme that illuminates doors, front and rear seats and the center console.
The ML63 AMG is powered by the AMG-spec 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that churns out 518bhp and 699Nm of torque. With the addition of the AMG performance pack, the power output goes up to 550bhp and 758Nm torque. The engine is mated to the AMG speedshift-Plus seven-speed AT gearbox with the power being sent to all four wheels.
The massive ML63AMG is faster than the ML-Class, though not as powerful as the GL63 AMG which was launched last month. We expect that ML63 AMG will go on sale in the price range of Rs 1.2 crore to Rs 1.5 crore and the company will bring the SUV to India via the CBU route.
