Mercedes-Benz has launched the ML63 AMG SUV in India for Rs 1.49 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). This is the fifth AMG-spec vehicle in India to be launched in the last one year and is part of the German automaker’s plan to expand its range of ‘dream line’ vehicles in the country. With the launch of the ML63 AMG, Mercedes-Benz also inaugurates its first AMG performance centre which is located at Mathura Road.
The ML63 AMG, as the name suggests is a high performance version of the M-Class range of SUVs. It is powered by a 5.5-litre twin turbo V8 engine that produces 549bhp and 760Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a four-wheel-drive system and the AMG speedshift-Plus seven-speed AT gearbox.
On the outside, the ML63 gets an AMG body kit, three-pointed star logo, projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lamps. The vehicle gets its stance from the 20-inch AMG-spec wheels surrounded by flared wheel arches. Design elements at the rear of the vehicle include wrap-around LED tail lamps, mesh rear air dam, quad chrome finish exhaust pipes and a rear spoiler. The chrome lip for the loading bay has been carried over from the standard SUV.
The ML63 gets the same interiors as the standard car but with the usual AMG touches to make it stand above the rest of the cars in the M-Class range. The car has been equipped with premium upgraded leather seats, climate control with multi-zone temperature control, infotainment system, leather seats with memory function, anti-lock brakes and ventilated disc brakes. While the DVD player is incorporated in the front row, wireless communication for Bluetooth-enabled devices and audio input jack for comprehensive entertainment have also been provided in the car.
The ML63 AMG competes with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Range Rover Sport V8 in the luxury SUV segment.
