If the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine of the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG did not seem powerful enough for you then here’s some good news. AMG boss Tobias Moers has confirmed that they are looking to release a more power-packed road-going variant of the CLA45 AMG next year.
“2014 will be a very important year for AMG,” Moers said, but he refused to offer more details about the upcoming produces.
The CLA45 AMG, currently, is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, which produces a total output of 355bhp and 450Nm torque. The unit is mated to a seven-speed sports AMG speedshift DCT transmission.
When news got out of this move by Mercedes-Benz, speculations were high that it would be the much awaited CLA45 AMG Black Series but Moers has refuted it. He says that a Black Series is out of the question in the nearby future but expect such a version over the following years, as Mercedes-Benz will probably expand the CLA Racing Series line-up. The CLA45 AMG Racing Series will be up soon with cars set to compete in a variety of different international racing series in the future such as the German VLN series.
Unfortunately we don’t have too many reasons to celebrate at this moment – the CLA is yet to debut in India and even the current AMG edition won’t be a part of the initial line-up. On the bright side, the AMG edition will be launched in India sometime and for a ‘relatively’ affordable price.
