Mercedes-Benz has launched a locally assembled version of its GLC crossover in India at Rs 47.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The German automaker had showcased the car at the 2016 Auto Expo and subsequently launched the car in June as CBU. This locally assembled version is available in two diesels and a petrol model.
This locally assembled model loses out on certain features as compared to the CBU model but retains the same exterior design and underpinnings. The GLC is offered with a four-cylinder petrol and diesel engine. The former is a 2.0-litre unit producing 241bhp/370Nm with power going to all four wheels via a nine-speed AT and 4MATIC AWD system. The diesel on offer is a 2.2-litre unit that produces 168bhp/400Nm. It is also mated to a nine-speed AT and 4MATIC AWD system.
This is the German automaker’s ninth model to be locally assembled for the Indian market at their Pune plant. It competes with the likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and the Land Rover Discovery.
