Taking excitement to a whole new level, German automaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the long wheelbase version of the E-Class at Rs 56.15 lakh (Ex-showroom, Mumbai). The fifth generation E-Class offers a fine combination of interior as well as exterior styling which is noted in S-Class and C-Class sedans. The newly launched E-Class LWB from Mercedes-Benz is available in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The current ones which are on offer are - the E200 and the E350d. The petrol version is powered by a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbo unit which produces 182bhp of power and 300Nm of torque, while the diesel version comes with a 3.0-litre V6 engine that generates 255bhp of power and 620Nm of torque. This time around both the engines come mated to a 9G-tronic gearbox.
The German automaker has extended the car’s length by 185mm, thereby it now measures 5,063mm. As for wheelbase, it has been increased by 205mm, thereby now bringing it to 3,079mm. The additional length makes E-Class LWB the longest sedan in its segment after the Jaguar XF, while the longer wheelbase will mean more space for rear seat occupants. The diesel version gets adaptive suspension system with variable damping, which allows customers to raise the vehicle upto 25mm.
Elaborating on the interior, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, reclining seats, 64-shades of ambient lighting and a 13-speaker Burmester music box. Additionally, the E-Class LWB comes with a panoramic sunroof, which indeed makes this car a delightful package. Speaking about safety, the automaker has offered features like park-assist, 360-degree aerial-view cameras, parking sensors and seven airbags.
