Giving steam to its ‘Best or Nothing’ approach towards luxury cars, Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new Designo personalisation platform. This platform was launched yesterday by Mr Eberhard Kern, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, along with three new premium cars, at an event in Delhi.
The Designo platform allows Mercedes-Benz customers to personalise their cars with a host of exclusive metallic paint schemes with a satin finish as well as different trim options for the interior. Mercedes-Benz offers different types of leather upholstery for the seats and an array of customisable trim options handcrafted in wood, piano lacquer, carbon fibre or stone. The Designo range also includes a wide selection of carbon fibre exterior packages and seat massagers.
Speaking about the Designo platform, Mr Kern said, “We are launching in India the Designo platform which epitomizes individualization and will offer our discerning customers innumerable customization options to choose from, ranging from exclusive paint finishes, high quality interior appointments and trims. We have seen the Indian luxury car customers are increasingly seeking higher levels of customization and Mercedes-Benz with its latest product portfolio and the new Designo platform will have a clear edge in catering to these diverse customer requirements.”
With the luxury car market in India growing quite rapidly, there has been an increase in the demand for exclusivity and customization in car buyers from these high-end segments. The Designo range, like the BMW Individual platform, allows customers to give their personal touch to their cars. At the event in Delhi, Mercedes-Benz also showcased a fully customised S-Class sedan finished in a mocha black metallic paint job and a porcelain/espresso brown trim for the interior. Though the company hasn’t revealed the pricing details of this program, we can safely expect the company to charge a heavy tab for this premium service.
