Mercedes-Benz has launched the B-Class diesel compact MPV in India for Rs 22.60 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The diesel B-Class is available in one variant and single engine option of which it shares the latter with A-Class diesel. The compact MPV was unveiled by actress Aditi Rao Hydari, Actor Abhay Deol in the presence of Eberhard Kern, CEO of Mercedes-Benz India.
The mill in the B180 CDI is a 2.2-litre oil burner is a power plant shared by the A-Class, C-Class and the E-Class, in various states of tune. It develops 110PS at 3,200rpm and 250Nm of torque from as early as 1,400rpm-2,800rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
The B-Class follows Mercedes’ Modular Front Architecture (MFA) that underpins the A-Class. It was unveiled in its petrol avatar in October last year and has already sold over 500 units since then. This is the fifth product from the German automaker for 2013 after the G63 AMG, A-Class, GL Class and the 2014 E-Class. During the event the German automaker also launched its Luxury Touring Trails contest for the B-Class MPV.
