Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2014 E63AMG in India for Rs 1.29 Crore (ex-showroom Dehi). The car was officially unveiled on January 9 and has sporty overtones while sharing a basic design philosophy with its standard sibling, the 2014 E-Class that was launched for the Indian market last month.
The 2014 E63 AMG gets a twin blade radiator grille, revised bumpers which now features a more aerodynamic design as compared to the standard car and full LED headlights that are now a standard feature on the E-Class range. The rear-end is dominated by a carbon fibre diffuser, twin chrome exhausts, rear spoiler and V8 bi-turbo lettering with AMG logo that make the car stand out in E-Class range.
Other external features include a panoramic sunroof, an optional external carbon fibre package that trims out various bits of the body work in the light weight material as well as 10-spoke 18-inch AMG spec alloy wheels.
The interiors in addition to the features from the standard 2014 E-Class also includes an AMG spec flat bottom steering wheel, aluminium paddle shifts as well as a host of AMG badges across the cabin. Mercedes-Benz is also offering an optional carbon fibre package for the interiors and it works the same way as the external package.
The 2014 E63 AMG is powered by a 5.5-litre V8 biturbo mill that produces 559PS and 750Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. It does 0-100 in 4.2 seconds and will go on to hit an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
This is the first time that Mercedes-Benz has brought E63 AMG to India and given that the E-Class is their most successful model since they began operations in 1993, we expect the E63 AMG to dominate its segment. It competes with the BMW M5 and the Audi RS5.
