Mercedes-Benz has been the oldest luxury car brand in India with its manufacturing unit in the country more than two decades old already. Along with its brand penetration, Mercedes has worked hard to deepen its roots on Indian soil with their ever expanding sales and service network. And the results can be seen in the sales numbers.
Mercedes has surpassed annual sales mark of 15,000 units for the first time in India and it is the only luxury car brand to achieve that. With 15,330 units sold in the calendar year 2017 as against the 13,231 units that it managed to sell in 2016, Mercedes has registered a 15.87 per cent growth year-on- year.
Over the last two years, Mercedes has been launching a new product almost every month and has one of the most comprehensive portfolios in the luxury car space. From hatchbacks to sedans to limousines to SUVs, Mercedes has an offering in every segment. Moreover, the sudden dip in luxury car prices after the advent of GST gave all luxury car makers a mid-year boost which also matched the time-slot for depreciation-fuelled corporate capital purchases.
Even the top-end AMGs saw double-digit growth stamping India’s position of being one of the most lucrative premium car markets in the world. With as many as 20 different models in its kitty, Mercedes is all set to begin its product offensive for 2018 with the luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S650 limousine. We are expecting the new S-Class, the new C-Class and the all-new CLS sedan in 2018 along with the new GLE, GLS and G-Wagon SUVs. The CLA might be replaced with the A-Class sedan in due course of time along with the new GLA.
