Three sporty models have been released from the Mercedes-Benz stable - the new A 250 Sport 4Matic, CLA 250 Sport and CLA 250 Sport 4Matic. Apart from these, also stealing the spotlight will be the entry-level diesel engined CLA 180 CDI.
These Sporty versions stand out with their aggressive bodywork, red accents, special badging and have shiny black 18-inch alloy wheels to sit on. As the name suggests, the A250 Sport 4Matic is quite potent in its section. “Engineered by AMG", the cars also have a sport-tuned suspension. Add to that a superior experience in vehicle handling and agility with the AMG speed-sensitive sports steering system and a new exhaust system. Tackling those roads will now be a pleasurable experience. Continuing the play with colour, the cars will have red seat belts and the word Sport embossed onto the floor mats.
Under the hood, one can find a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 211 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. This is connected to a 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission which can be paired to an optional AWD system on the CLA.
Coming to the CLA 180 CDI, it boasts of a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that develops 109bhp and throws up 260 Nm of torque. The CDI, however, gets a lower ‘Style’ trim, as opposed to the petrol which is only available in ‘Sport’. It now remains to be seen whether the CLA works the same magic as the A Class did for it.
