Mercedes-Benz India has earned a feather in its cap by clocking its highest ever annual sales number in FY 2015-16. Mercedes-Benz sold 13,558 cars in the last financial year, making it the front runner among the luxury car manufacturers in the country.
The first three months of 2016 have been kind to Mercedes-Benz, as the company sold 3,622 cars during this period. The last month even saw the German car manufacturer record its highest ever sales number for any month. Mercedes-Benz achieved this feat despite having to suffer a drop in sales in the Delhi region, due to the government’s recent ruling prohibiting registration of diesel cars above 2000cc in the capital city. Spearheading Mercedes-Benz’s growth in the country are the E-Class and the C-Class models, which continue to win over car buyers with their charm and the luxury quotient. Even the high-end models like the S-Class and the Mercedes-Maybach are enjoying a waiting period across the country.
Expressing delight at this achievement, Mr Roland Folger, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “It is a significant achievement for us, as we have maintained our growth momentum in Q1 2016, despite facing multiple market challenges. We have been able to compensate the negative sales impact in the Delhi and NCR market, with a strong double digit growth achieved in most other markets across the country. This strongly underlines the fact that luxury car buyers increasingly prefer Mercedes-Benz.”
