Mercedes-Benz is one of the ultimate contenders for mass-production high-quality cars in the world. They recently announced that they posted record sales of 13,502 units in India last year as compared to 10,201 units in 2014, and the plans for their portfolio in 2016.
The sales of 13,502 units in the 2015 calendar year period meant the company also achieved its highest sales volume in a single calendar year in India. "Our unsurpassed product drive and the network expansion, supported by our comprehensive service and financial programmes, catapulted our growth despite unfavourable market conditions and a slowing economy," Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director & CEO Roland Folger said. “The company witnessed such a strong growth despite unexpected challenges on the sales front faced in the key markets of Chennai and Delhi," he added.
The CLA, C-Class, E-Class and the S-Class recorded a sales growth of 42 per cent while, the GLA, GLE and GLS, recorded 100 per cent sales growth in the 2015 calendar year period. The high-end performance brand Mercedes-Benz AMG also grew by 54 per cent.
Earlier in 2015, the company had announced the launch of 15 new models, which the German-carmaker successfully did meet. Moreover, Mercedes-Benz India added the GLA, CLA and the Maybach S500 to its local production portfolio, which led them to double the output to become the country's largest luxury car manufacturer.
On plans for 2016, the company said, "The winning initiatives of Mercedes-Benz in 2016 will comprise the introduction of 12 fascinating new products, some of which without any predecessor in India. Mercedes-Benz will also inaugurate 10 new outlets across existing and new markets."
Besides, the company will introduce innovative retail activities in tier two and three cities, driving the brand's growth in such potential markets.
