There has been a spurt in the sales of performance-driven cars these days. BMW’s M-series and Audi’s S-line have been enjoying a good demand so Mercedes-Benz, not willing to fall behind, is planning to tap in on the increase in demand of their AMG sports cars in India. Now, according to a report in ET, the company intends to open new AMG outlets across the country.
The AMG models from the product-folio of Mercedes-Benz have been holding the attention of Indian consumers for a long time now and the German automaker, has in fact, introduced three AMG models in India this year. These include the SLK 55 AMG launched this week, the E63 brought in mid-2013 and the G63 AMG offered at the beginning of this year.
The company’s sales have increased by 32 per cent within the initial nine months of the financial year. The introduction of these sports cars in the Indian market has added to the hike in sales of the Mercedes-Benz, with over 200 such AMG models sold in the country since 2010.
Mercedes-Benz India aims to cater to the Indian fans and enthusiasts who require immaculately designed cars coupled with high performance. These mostly include a set of individuals from urban areas who are young entrepreneurs or businessmen and show an inclination towards these high-end performance cars. Most of them are from cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad where Mercedes plans to open the AMG outlets.
The SLK 55 AMG is priced between Rs 82.78 lakh and Rs 1.26 crore. The E63 AMG and the G63 AMG are priced at Rs 1.29 crore and Rs 1.71 crore respectively, all prices being ex-showroom New-Delhi.
