Like the 450bhp S500 but think it could do with a bit more power? Mercedes-Benz India might have an alternative for you by the end of the year. The luxury carmaker is expected to bring in the manic S63 AMG as a directly import for its Indian customers.
The highlight of the S63 AMG, obviously, is the 5.5-litre bi-turbo V8 engine. With an output of 585bhp and 900Nm of torque, the luxury sedan takes around 4.5 seconds to hit 100kmph from standstill before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. Power is sent to the rear wheels via AMG’s Speedshift 7-speed automatic gearbox.
Like all AMG V8 and V12 engines, the 8-cylinder bi-turbo engine for the S63 AMG is assembled by hand in the hand-finishing section at AMG. As for the rest of the highlights, the suspension features Mercedes’ AIRMATIC and MAGIC BODY CONTROL, lightweight alloy wheels and ceramic composite brakes.
The S63 AMG will officially arrive in the Indian market later this year. Besides this, Mercedes also plans to bring in the AMG GT sports car within 2015.
