The Year of Excellence is still not over for Mercedes-Benz India and it has achieved some commendable sales numbers. It has sold around 7,529 units in January-September 2014 with a growth of 16 per cent year-on-year when compared to the same period last year where it sold 6,461 units. Also it has recorded its highest ever September sales with more than 1,000 units retailed.
The company has managed this growth despite the phase-out of the current generation C-Class and the availability of the GLA-Class from Q4 2014 only. Filling in for the C-Class was the company’s trusted volume generator, the E-Class luxury sedan, and it received ample support from the M-Class and GL-Class. The company’s SUV portfolio has witnessed almost 100 per cent growth this year and the compact portfolio which includes the A-Class and B-Class also contributed to the sales. Another notable contributor was the Mercedes-Benz’s flagship model, the S-Class as it remains sold out for the year. Bringing in more traction is the CLA 45 AMG and now, its latest entrant the GLA-Class.
Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “We have launched eight new cars, sold more cars than ever before, expanded to newer markets, added newer customer base, connected with more customers through our brand connect programmes and offered more value to our customers. The results of these initiatives have been an inclusive growth for the brand in India in the first three quarters. It also is a strong step towards concluding the "Year of Excellence" on a profitable and sustained double digit growth.”
Mercedes-Benz India has been on a launch spree, bringing out product after product and at competitive prices as well. Eight new products have been launched, five new outlets have been inaugurated and another nine unique brand initiatives have been planned to complete the Year of Excellence in a grand manner.
